Prenatal Pilates

Prenatal Pilates classes are designed to help support your mind and body throughout your pregnancy. Classes are adapted to focus on safe and controlled movement helping to maintain your physical health and prepare your body for birth. Modifications are made throughout each trimester.

Prenatal Pilates focuses on posture improvement, flexibility, improved strength, balance and muscle tone. The exercises engage the entire body with a particular focus on functional core stability. As well as helping to prevent specific joint problems caused by ligamentous laxity. A deep emphasis on specific breathing in Pilates will help prepare your body for labour and relieve stress too.

Pilates is an effective and low impact pregnancy workout, it has been shown to aid postpartum recovery. At around 6 weeks postpartum, with medical clearance, postnatal classes can begin.

Postnatal Pilates

Postnatal Pilates focuses on targeting the weakened abdomen to aid muscle restoration. It strengthens your deep abdominals progressively, improving diastasis recti (abdominal separation) if present. It helps strengthen your pelvic floor and core muscles and mobilises the spine to improve posture. Postnatal Pilates classes will help you re-connect with your body, manage stress and give you some much needed time for yourself too!
